Event - Year 4 Violin Concert

8 May 2014

All of Year 4 (and their teacher Miss Niland) have been receiving violin lessons once a week since September from Miss Slater who comes in from the Warwickshire County Music Services.

Today they were showing off their violin talents in front of their parents and the whole school.

They performed three short pieces starting with Trolls, Orcs and Goblins using only the bow. The final two pieces that the children performed were 'Dark Horse' which introduced using one finger and then in the last piece 'Morning Sunshine' 1,2 and 3 fingers. A skill which Miss Slater said "all the children had picked up very well and was not something usually taught so early".

Lots of parents attended, and everyone was impressed by the standard of play. Now that the 'upbeat' lessons are due to finish it is hoped that a few of the pupils will continue with individual lessons in the future.
