Event - Year 1 at St Giles Church

6 February 2013

On Wednesday 6th February Year 1 walked to St Giles Church to have a look at the many different things that can be seen in a church.

We learnt lots of new words and some interesting information. Did you know that the church is over 800 years old and was once much smaller?

We sat in the pews and were shown how to ring the bells. We looked at the font where people are baptised. It was a very cold day we were glad to get back to school just in time for dinner.

Arriving at the church.
Mrs Shreeve showing us the sundial.

St Giles above the door saving the deer.
The old font.

The lectern.
The bell ringing tower.

St Giles stained glass window.
More wonderful stained glass.

Can you guess where we would see this?
The Garden of Remembrance.
