Event - Remembrance Day

11 November 2014

This morning at 11am Wheelwright Lane Primary School staff and pupils came together around the war memorial with pupils and staff from other schools in the area; Ash Green, Newdigate, Goodyers End, Exhall Cedars Infant, Exhall Grange and St Giles. We were there to remember those who fought and lost their lives in the war.

All the schools felt it was appropriate to make Remembrance Day a little more relevant to the children, especially with it being the centenary of WW1.

With the large amount of media currently being shown the children have been asking sensible and thoughtful questions in school and some of our pupils have been learning about “Peace and Reconciliation.”

We wanted our focus to be forgiveness and respect for others, so to come together as a community with all our differences, was a great way to promote these values. We hope that this commemoration and further community activities will continue in the future.
